Oklahoma had one heck of a week in Arlington despite loss in championship game .

Image
The Sooners were undefeated in the BIG 12 Tournament until they faced rival OSU in the championship game. There were many highlights during the week that fans could enjoy, from Kendall Pettis' amazing catches to Braden Davis pitching a complete game, along with Anthony Mckenzie and Jackson Nicklaus swinging the bat well. Although disappointed by the loss OU will host a regional at home.  The selection show on Monday will reveal who is coming to Norman this upcoming weekend.                                                          Postgame Presser

Texas: eliminated from BIG12 Tournament, will now prepare for Regionals

Image
Head coach David Pierce says the Texas Longhorns will head back to Austin and continue to prepare for the Regional. "For some reason we have not played well in recent years in this tournament " said Pierce in the postgame interview. If anyone knows Texas baseball under David Pierce they know his teams always battle back. The very same could be said for the Longhorns Wednesday night, even when Cincinnati took an 8-3 lead in the top of the 8th. Texas never felt sorry for themselves and instead continued to battle back making it a 1 run game heading into the 9th inning.  The Longhorns would eventually lose 8-7 and be eliminated from the tournament. Now it's time to turn their focus towards making a run in the post season. The Longhorns will most likely have to travel on the road in the upcoming NCAA Regional.

Tulane wins AAC conference tournament Championship

Image
For the second year in a row the Tulane Green Wave are AAC champs! The Green Wave came into the tournament as the 3 seed, however they played like the number 1 seed. Tulane never faced elimination the whole week in Clearwater. In every game they put together exactly what they needed to win, whether it was pitching , hitting , defense, sacrifice fly etc. It just so happens that in the bottom of the 9th in the  conference Championship game they needed one run to win the game and  Jackson Linn delivered. I don't think a script could be written any better: tie game, 2 outs and an 0-2 pitch count in the bottom of the 9th.  The Green Wave walked it off.  Jay Uhlman was very proud of this program in the postgame interview. This is the second year in a row he has guided Tulane to an automatic bid in the NCAA tournament.

Wichita State comes up short in AAC Championship game - what a run though!

Image
The championship game between Tulane and Witchita State - Tulane was tailor made for ESPN classic.  After 3 innings the score was 3-2.  This game went back and forth and by the 8th inning it was tied 10-10.  I think any college baseball fan including myself definitely thought this game was going to extra innings. One swing of the bat can change everything and that's exactly what happened in the bottom of the 9th.  Phenomenal run by the Shockers and Head Coach Brian Green down the stretch. This ball club has nothing to hang their heads about. In the post game Interview coach Green was all class and praised his ball club while giving credit to Tulane. I think it's safe to say this program will be back next year ready to compete for another AAC championship.

Covering the MVC Conference Tournament Indiana State vs UIC

Image
Indiana State jumped out to a 2-0 lead on UIC. ISU, the favorite to win the MVC, fought hard in the  elimination game. Indiana State got their lead early in the 1st inning, and the Sycamores would later add 2 more runs in the 6th and 1 more in the bottom of the 7th. The UIC Flames would make it interesting by scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th. In the top of the 9th UIC did not go away easy with runners on base and with Kendall Ewall up to bat the flames had a chance to extend the game. However, Cole Gilley would get the strike out and the save for Sycamores who will play SIU at 11am saturday. Post game interview:  Head coach Mitch  Hannahs

Covering the AAC Tournament Witchita State upsets top ECU 14-4

Image
The Wichita State offense is scary once it gets on a roll. Earlier in May the shockers went on the road against UTSA and showed the potential of this ball club once the bats get going. Wichita State shocked the ECU Pirates with a dominant 14-4 win. The shockers advance to the semifinals of the AAC tournament on Saturday and put themselves in a good position to win the tournament. In a post game Interview via zoom with shockers head coach Brian Green talked about the significance of the UTSA series ,it felt like that may have been a turning point in the season. With the postseason heating up Wichita State may be getting in a rhythm at the perfect time.

Covering the Summit League Tournament: Oral Roberts wins over Northern Colorado, 14-0

Image
Oral Roberts is hosting the 2024 Summit League championships at J.L. Johnson Stadium. Thursday evening  they hosted the University of Northern Colorado. This was a very competitive game and for the most part 14-0 does not reflect the majority of the game. After 7 innings Oral  Roberts only  lead 2-0. In the bottom of the 8th ORU would score 12  unanswered runs and would go on to defeat Northern Colorado 14-0. ORU will now play UNC again on Saturday in the Summit championship. UNC defeated North Dakota State 10-9 in an extra inning thriller on Friday ending the Bisons season.

Jordan Bischel gives shout-out to his kids as UC Bearcats stun Texas in the BIG 12 Tournament!

Image
The University of Cincinnati has had many ups and downs in program history.  This past year brought a major change in the coaching department. Enter Jordan Bischel. In his first year with the Bearcats, he led the team to 30+ wins and  an over-500 record in conference play. Beating a top 25, tough Texas team in a conference tournament game is a huge win for the program, especially when this team was picked to finish dead last. Now the Bearcats have a high percentage chance to make the NCAA tournament. Many times throughout the game it looked like the Longhorns would rally back, as many of David Pierces' teams have done in the past. In an exciting turn, UC was able to hold on to an 8-7 lead and close out the 9th inning securing a signature win for the program.

Kansas State Tops WVU 8-4 in Big 12 Tournament

Image
The story of the game was Owen Boerema, who pitched a complete game throwing 131 pitches. The Wildcats would put together a 7-run 4th inning that would give them a comfortable lead . After that the Wildcats would never look back and Owen Boerema would only give up one run in the bottom of the 9th. WVU leaves the BIG 12 Tournament confident and hopeful that they will be selected on Monday to go play in a Regional. Next, Kansas State will wait to see who they will face on Thursday in the Big 12 Tournament.

Post Game Interview with Ohio State Head Coach Bill Mosiello at the Las Vegas Classic

Image
In March Ohio State won 2 games at the Las Vegas College Baseball Classic. Coach Bill Mosiello in his 2nd season at Ohio State has the buckeyes at 23-22 Overall with two weeks left in the season. If the Buckeyes can head into the Big 10 Tournament around 500 and make a run they definitely have a chance at the post season bid. Early season wins over ranked West Virginia and Oklahoma could definitely help their case. Whatever happens it will be an interesting month of May in college baseball.                                                                     Part 2 Press Conference

Post Game Interview Cal Baseball coach Mike Neu

Image
Cal had a rough outing at the Las Vegas College Baseball Classic however the Golden Bears never quit.  They Could have Easily accepted the run rule while being down to Pitt this ball club kept fighting.  After the classic the Bears would win a mid week match up against Stanford and sit at 28-17 with about  10 days left in the regular season and 14-13 in the Pac-12. I am sure Coach Neu understands that the early  season struggles helped this ball club  down the Stretch.
