Pitt wins Las Vegas Classic Postgame Interview with head Coach Mike Bell

  The Pitt Panthers take home the trophy to the Las Vegas College Baseball Classic.  Pitt had no problem producing runs in both games. The Panthers Scored 19 runs on Friday and also again on Sunday. The catcher, Jayden Melendez, put on a stellar performance by scoring 3 runs on Friday vs Oklahoma and hitting two homers against Cal on Sunday. As the Panthers now prepare for a tough ACC Schedule Coach Bell talked about the importance of participating in an early season tournament like this.    

Day 3 Las Vegas College Baseball Classic

  Ohio State finds a way to defeat Oklahoma in the 9th inning.  The first three innings saw most of the scoring in this game. The middle innings saw 0's by both teams. Kyson Witherspoon threw some solid innings and had two strikeouts in the ninth, however a couple of defensive blunders would really hurt the Sooners.  The Buckeyes would rally in the top of the ninth and take the lead 4-3. Oklahoma drops to 0-2 in the tournament. Ohio State would finish 2-0 in the Las Vegas College Baseball Classic.  In the second game of day 3 the Pitt Panthers got a 19-7 win over the Cal Bears. Many thought the game would be over but Cal kept fighting  until the end. At one point the game was 13-1 but later on in the game Cal made it a 15-7 game. PJ Moutzouridis hit a 3-run homer to give the Golden Bears some hope. Unfortunately it was too late and Pitt would continue to add to the lead and take home the winning trophy to Las Vegas college Baseball Classic. 

Both Games Cancelled Day 2 Of The Las Vegas Baseball Classic

 Day 2 of The Las Vegas College Baseball Classic saw both games cancelled due to inclement weather.    along with light rain the Las Vegas Metro area saw 60 mile per hour winds all day Saturday.The Ohio  State Buckeyes are 1-0. Also the Pitt Panthers are 1-0 day 3 will decide the winner of the tournament.
