Exciting Mid week between Texas Tech and Oklahoma

Image
From the beginning of this game there was excitement - the leadoff hitter for the Oklahoma Sooners, Jason Walk, hit a home run. The bases would be loaded for OU later in the inning but Texas Tech would get out of the inning after a replay at 1st base. Tech would score in the bottom the first making it 1-1. No one pitched more than two innings for either team Tuesday night. Michael Catalano had three strikeouts to lead all OU pitchers and Lukas Pirko had 3 strikeouts to lead all pitchers for Texas Tech. Oklahoma would win this exciting mid-week matchup 8-6, however the Red Raiders didn't make it easy scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning.  This was a nice game put on by peak events SEC vs BIG 12 before the post season.

Weekly Presser with The Ohio State University head coach Justin Haire

Image
Head Coach Justin Haire was available to preview the Buckeyes mid-week vs Miami Ohio. Coach also talked about their second Big Ten road trip coming up this weekend in Iowa city. Iowa won 2 out of 3 at Rutgers on the road. They also won 2 out 3 at home against the Michigan State Spartans. The Buckeyes 5-12 on the season lost all three games on the road at Indiana. Coach Haire is getting his pitchers to throw strikes. Game 2 of the series was very competitive and went to extra innings. Many Ohio States games have been competitive against good competition early in the season. The Buckeyes just seem to come up short. As coach Haire tries to put his stamp on this program it sounds like he wants the team to play to win and finish these close games. Look for this series to be very competitive this weekend.    Team Records                          Ohio State   5-12   0-3 Iowa    ...

Texas vs Texas Tech renew old rivalry Day 2 of the Las Vegas Classic

Image
There was some chatter in the press before the Texas / Texas Tech game. The crowd Saturday night definitely impressed at Las Vegas ballpark. The Texas Tech bullpen was into the game early with a lot of yelling and screaming, cheering on their teammates. Only a fence separated both bullpens in right field. The first inning was scoreless, then in the 2nd inning Texas took a 7-0 lead. Texas would later add three more runs in the 5th inning making it 10-0. In the bottom of the 5th inning the Red Raiders would add a run to avoid the run rule by the 7th inning and in the 7th inning they would add 3 more runs making it 10-4. Finally in the bottom of the 9th Texas Tech scored 1 more run making the final 10-5.

Illinois vs Texas Tech (Las Vegas College Baseball Classic)

Coach Tadlock and players post-game The match-up between Illinois and Texas Tech was a back and forth game all day! One team would get ahead and then before the inning was over the score was tied. Illinois started out with some phenomenal base running; every chance the Illini got they would steal a base. The Red Raiders would keep their bats going and make sure they stayed in the game. In the bottom of the 8th inning Colton Quagliano scored on an error by the left fielder. Illinois went up 5-4 looking to close out the game in the top of the 9th inning. Damian Bravo would homer in the bottom of the 9th and tie the game.   From there Texas Tech took the lead and the momentum, and would close out the game winning 10-6.                              ...

Fresh off their AAC Conference tournament win and NCAA tournament appearance, the Tulane Green Waves are off to a 7-1 start. Recently they completed a home stand and now they will take their first official road trip of the season: three games against Pepperdine and one game against Long Beach State before returning to New Orleans to host North Dakota State. Later in the year Tulane will play USM, ECU, UTSA and USF all on the road. This will be the tough part of the schedule but will prepare the Green Wave for the post season.  Coach Ulhman is pleased with his teams effort thus far in the season. In a time when so many kids hit the transfer portal, it's refreshing to see a team with returning contributors.  Below listen to the Interview with head coach Jay Uhlman
