1st weekend college baseball 2025
The first weekend in college baseball had some interesting match ups. So who was impressive? First, I'll talk about the teams that stayed undefeated, then the teams who had impressive weekends both at home and on the road. Many teams excelled this weekend but I'll only name a few in this article.
Impressive Undefeated Teams
Michigan went 4-0 in the Puerto Rico Challenge this Weekend defeating 4 teams from 4 different conferences.
Arizona State was in a dog fight this past weekend vs Ohio State; every game in the series was competitive. ASU managed to go 3-0 and get the sweep.
Teams that won the series on the road
Illinois (2-1) won 2 out of 3 vs Abilene Christian at Whataburger field in Corpus Christi. Next week the Illini will travel to San Marcos to take on a tough Texas State team.
Purdue (4-0) won four straight in Texas vs Stephen F Austin. Next week they play Niagara in North Carolina.
Stanford (4-0) The cardinals swept Cal State Fullerton in their opening series including two late inning rallies.
Louisville (2-1) At the Shriner's Children showdown the Cardinals got an opening night win over Texas, and finished Sunday with a win over a then ranked Arizona team.
San Jose State (2-1) How about the Spartans taking 2 out of 3 on the road in Lafayette Louisiana! This is not an easy place to win but hats off to the Spartans.
Teams that looked Impressive at home
Texas A&M went 3-0 vs Elon in College Station.
South Alabama (4-0) winning one game against SIUE, Kent State and two vs EKU.
Florida (3-0) The Gators swept Air Force at home with two mid weeks coming up against Jacksonville and FAMU.
UT Arlington won 2 of 3 at home opening weekend against the UTSA Roadrunners, one of the top teams in the AAC.
