UTSA wins Opener at AAC conference Tournament.

 







The UTSA Roadrunners pulled out a late-inning thriller yesterday. Mason Lytle hit a homer in the 1st and  UTSA took the lead 1-0. Rice would bounce back and take the lead 2-1 and hold that lead until the 8th inning. Lytle would come up big again and single, advancing the runner to 3rd. Next, James Taussig came up with a huge double scoring both Miller and Lytle. The Roadrunners would take their first lead of the game since the first inning. Norris McClure nabbed a 2-out single to bring home Taussig for the insurance run.  During the postgame press conference coach Hallmark emphasized the importance of the 2 run lead heading into the 9th.  UTSA will take a day off and get ready for a tough Tulane ball club on Thursday.

 The first weekend in college baseball had some interesting match ups. So who was impressive? First, I'll talk about the teams that stayed undefeated, then the teams who had impressive weekends both at home and on the road. Many teams excelled this weekend but I'll only name a few in this article.  Impressive Undefeated Teams Michigan   went 4-0 in   the   Puerto Rico Challenge this Weekend defeating 4 teams from 4 different conferences. Arizona State was in a dog fight this past weekend vs Ohio State; every game in the series was competitive. ASU managed to go 3-0 and get the sweep. Teams that won the series on the road Illinois (2-1) won 2 out of 3 vs Abilene Christian at Whataburger field in Corpus Christi. Next week the Illini will travel to San Marcos to take on a tough Texas State team. Purdue (4-0) won four straight in Texas vs Stephen F Austin. Next week they play Niagara in North Carolina.
