Red River Rivalry Game 1 Texas vs OU Last Series of the Regular season 2025

 

Kyson Witherspoon is as advertised! Four Strikeouts in the first two innings, he would finish the game with 8. Oklahoma took a 3-1 lead in the 3rd. The Sooners led the majority of the game behind Witherspoon's arm, who pitched 6 1/3  innings and only allowed 2 runs. If the runner from Texas was caught in the run-down between 1st and second base in the 3rd inning to secure the out, the score could have very well been 3-0 OU going into the 7th inning. In the 7th Borba scored and Rodriguez scored for Texas, tying the game. In the 8th Rylan Galvan scored on a single by Schuessler giving the Longhorns the 4-3 lead. 

OU would fight back in the bottom of the 8th - Jaxon Willits would single and Easton Carmichael would score tying the game 4-4. However, in the top of the 9th Belyeu would hit a 3-run homer for Texas and the Longhorns would take a 7-4 lead and never look back. Game 2 of the series will start Friday at 6:30.
