Coach Tadlock all class as usual after Texas Tech loss in BIG 12 Tournament

Image
This year was not the typical one for Texas Tech baseball, but give them credit for scheduling tough! Week 1 the Red Raiders were on the road at a top 10 North Carolina Tarheel team, then came back home the second weekend to face UC Irvine. The 3rd week of the regular season they faced the number 1 team in the country - Texas. Also in there were power 5 schools Washington and Illinois, at the Las Vegas Classic. The next weekend was on the road against a tough Grand Canyon team that gave Stanford a rough time and is a very well respected mid Major baseball program. They also had a tough mid week against an SEC Oklahoma team that was ranked at the time. The Red Raiders were able to pick up wins against Arizona and WVU, two of the top teams in the conference in addition to that a sweep against the Houston Cougars on the road.  A tough loss to Cincinnati ended the season, however this team showed some grit until the very last out.

Coach Uhlman and Tulane find a way back to the AAC Championship again!

Tulane knocked off the top-seeded UTSA Roadrunners on Saturday. This marks the 3rd straight trip to the championship game for the Green Wave, who won the conference Tournament in 2024. It seems like they definitely love playing in Clearwater. Tomorrow it will be ECU who has won three straight. Cliff Godwin, the head coach of the Pirates, is no stranger to the big stage. This will be a fun and interesting game if you are a college baseball fan. Anything can happen in late May! Semi final scores Tulane 6 UTSA 3  ECU 9   USF 7

Game 1 BIG 12 tournament BYU vs Arizona State

Image
Pitching dual for both teams! While BYU pitched a shutout, Arizona State's staff combined for 18 strikeouts - a Big 12 tournament record. Matt King swung the bat well as usual however no one else could seem to get a hit at the right time. Most hits for ASU came with 2 outs. BYU had runners on base multiple times but the 2 runs were enough to secure the win against 5-seeded ASU. Hopefully ASU still has a spot in the playoffs. They had a great year in Tempe but ultimately it's up to the committee who will get to a regional.

UTSA wins Opener at AAC conference Tournament.

The UTSA Roadrunners pulled out a late-inning thriller yesterday. Mason Lytle hit a homer in the 1st and  UTSA took the lead 1-0. Rice would bounce back and take the lead 2-1 and hold that lead until the 8th inning. Lytle would come up big again and single, advancing the runner to 3rd. Next, James Taussig came up with a huge double scoring both Miller and Lytle. The Roadrunners would take their first lead of the game since the first inning. Norris McClure nabbed a 2-out single to bring home Taussig for the insurance run.  During the postgame press conference coach Hallmark emphasized the importance of the 2 run lead heading into the 9th.  UTSA will take a day off and get ready for a tough Tulane ball club on Thursday.

OU defeats Texas 8-6 in an exciting Game 2 of the Red River Rivalry series

Cade Crossland started off the game with three strikeouts; the Junior would finish with a total of 10. In the second inning Brayden Horton would step up big by homering. The Sooners took the lead 1-0. Casey Borba would score for Texas in the third inning tying the game at 1. Dawson Willis would get things going for OU in the bottom of the 3rd with a bunt single and a stolen base. Jason Walk would provide the sacrifice bunt to advance Willis to 3rd base. Willis would then score on a throwing error by Texas, making it 2-1 Oklahoma.  The 4th inning became a small ball clinic with multiple Sooners laying down bunts -  Dasan Harris bunted and scored. Kyle Branch and Trey Gambill would both single in the inning, helping the Sooners take a 5-1 lead. Texas would battle back in the top of the 5th inning and take a 6-5 lead. It looked like it would be de ja vu all over again until the bottom of the 8th inning when Scott Muddler doubled to right center field. Brayden Horton hit in...

Red River Rivalry Game 1 Texas vs OU Last Series of the Regular season 2025

Image
Kyson Witherspoon is as advertised! Four Strikeouts in the first two innings, he would finish the game with 8. Oklahoma took a 3-1 lead in the 3rd. The Sooners led the majority of the game behind Witherspoon's arm, who pitched 6 1/3  innings and only allowed 2 runs. If the runner from Texas was caught in the run-down between 1st and second base in the 3rd inning to secure the out, the score could have very well been 3-0 OU going into the 7th inning. In the 7th Borba scored and Rodriguez scored for Texas, tying the game. In the 8th Rylan Galvan scored on a single by Schuessler giving the Longhorns the 4-3 lead.  OU would fight back in the bottom of the 8th - Jaxon Willits would single and Easton Carmichael would score tying the game 4-4. However, in the top of the 9th Belyeu would hit a 3-run homer for Texas and the Longhorns would take a 7-4 lead and never look back. Game 2 of the series will start Friday at 6:30.
