3 weeks are in the books !!

 




What can I say so far about the 2023 college baseball season? Do we need to speed up the game ? I will say this, if you love baseball you love baseball, clocks don't matter. I do like the new run rules, however late in games if Umpires called strikes, that could speed up the game also. Too many times I saw teams up by 8 or 9 runs in late innings and a pitcher is on a roll then all of a sudden the strike zone changes.  Honestly I think if the average college baseball game is 2 hours and 40 minutes baseball fans and pundits should have nothing to complain about.

Early season Success 

Alabama is still undefeated 14-0 they have a weekend series vs Columbia. They open up SEC play next weekend vs Florida.

Wake Forest started off 13-0 but recently lost to Coastal Carolina on the road. The Demon Deacons start ACC play this weekend at Duke.

Virginia is 13-0 heading into this weekend's series vs #14 North Carolina. Big test for the Cavaliers on the road. 

Troy University in Alabama started off 11-0 before losing two midweek games to FGCU.

Link Jarrett bringing his winning ways to Tallahassee. The Seminoles started off 5-0 and are currently ranked 21.

 The first weekend in college baseball had some interesting match ups. So who was impressive? First, I'll talk about the teams that stayed undefeated, then the teams who had impressive weekends both at home and on the road. Many teams excelled this weekend but I'll only name a few in this article.  Impressive Undefeated Teams Michigan   went 4-0 in   the   Puerto Rico Challenge this Weekend defeating 4 teams from 4 different conferences. Arizona State was in a dog fight this past weekend vs Ohio State; every game in the series was competitive. ASU managed to go 3-0 and get the sweep. Teams that won the series on the road Illinois (2-1) won 2 out of 3 vs Abilene Christian at Whataburger field in Corpus Christi. Next week the Illini will travel to San Marcos to take on a tough Texas State team. Purdue (4-0) won four straight in Texas vs Stephen F Austin. Next week they play Niagara in North Carolina.
